A change of heart

Long lunged forward and grabbed Bá by the collar to pull him back. Bá twisted his head, ducked under Long's arm and hooked a punch into Long's stomach. Long turned sideways so the punch slid past, then swung his arm down to catch Bá's hand and lock it. Bá twisted along with it and hooked a heel kick up at Long's face. Long let go of Bá's hand to dodge the blow and then stepped forward to grab Bá's hair... The two fought on the bridge, blocking traffic, and the vehicles blared their horns.
Finally Long locked Bá's arm and pinned him to the ground so he could not move, and said loudly:
- Is she worth dying for?
Just then two police officers arrived on a motorbike and took both of them to the station. At the station, taking statements, it turned out that Bá had been about to jump into the river to kill himself, and Long had spotted him and run after him to stop him. But both were martial arts students from the same school, so they fought fiercely. Luckily Long won.
After the administrative fine was recorded, the two left the station and went to sit on a bench in a park. Bá said sadly: - She promised to love me forever. Our love was so beautiful, and we were only waiting for the wedding day. But suddenly she changed her heart. I caught her going into a motel with her director. When I burst in to catch her in the act, she answered sharply that she no longer loved me and told me to get out of her life. It was as if I had fallen from the sky to the ground, and I looked in bewilderment at a person who only yesterday was lovely, gentle and well-behaved and today had turned into a shrewish, deceitful one. Besides the loss of affection, I was badly hurt in my honour. A man can't suffer humiliation like that. Either I had to kill her or I had to kill myself. Killing her would make me guilty before the law, so I chose to kill myself.
Long said: - If you kill yourself you are guilty before moral principle. The debt of gratitude to your parents who gave birth to you and raised you is wiped out. The labour of all the years of school and teachers is wiped out. Who will look after your parents in their old age? Who will help build this society? As for her heart changing, it's only because she was acting. She never truly loved you, and she doesn't truly love that director either. I'm telling you, and you'll see whether it's right.
Bá said blankly: - What should I do now?
- In this life there are still many people who badly need your love: the lottery-ticket seller across the street, the old couple living poorly in the neighbourhood, the two orphaned brothers who depend on each other, your young cousins who are still naive, so many. Love them.
Bá said sadly: - For a long time I was so busy with love that I paid no attention to living decently with anyone. Thank you. I will find again the life I lost 🤼♂️

The human mind changes often. Sometimes it changes with external circumstances; sometimes we deliberately change it ourselves.
External circumstances make our mind sometimes happy, sometimes sad. Our mind passively changes as external circumstances lead it.
Sometimes we actively create a mood of joy or sadness for ourselves according to what life demands. When we meet the boss we must put on a cheerful mood. When someone comes to borrow money we must be gloomy and lament that we are short of money. When we meet a beautiful person we deliberately put on an appearance of decency, propriety and warmth. When we meet a rival we put on a fierce, hard attitude.
In general everyone is an actor, some performing shallowly and some deeply. And whoever works in showbusiness becomes a professional actor outright.
When we see someone's loveliness and proper, well-behaved attitude, we must understand that they are creating that image at this moment. In another circumstance they will have a completely different appearance: possibly shrewish, insolent, cruel, greedy, hot-tempered. Understanding this, we will be less disappointed in people when they suddenly turn on us.
For a person who cultivates ethics, this acting in life gradually fades away. They change their attitude little and change their form little as they pass through different circumstances of life. However kind they were when they first met us, they will remain just as kind later. However cheerful they are when well off, they will be just as cheerful when in difficulty.
It seems that a person of deep ethics acts very shallowly, and conversely, a person of shallow ethics can transform and act very deeply.
