Worrying about everything

The old professor said:
- Now it's Hùng's turn to come up and talk about his dream plan for starting a business.
Hùng went up to the platform and said: - Professor, hello everyone. Actually I don't have to start any business, because my family already has a whole real-estate company.
The class murmured with interest.
Hùng went on: - I will simply add what I've learnt here to develop the company. We have been taught that we must supply the products customers need, and not sit dreaming up in the clouds, creating romantic products that nobody needs and that nobody will buy. Because I work in real estate, I will care about all the needs of a person's life and follow them through. When they are alive they will need a roof; when they die they will need a grave. Wherever they live, they will need somewhere to buy their daily food and household goods. Wherever they live, they will need schools for their children and hospitals to look after their health. Wherever they live, they will also need parks to stroll in, a lake to swim in, tracks to jog on, tennis courts... Wherever they live, they will also need entertainment clubs, places to gather and sing, so that they don't sing karaoke at home and disturb the neighbours.
In general, if, based on customers' needs and way of life, we create residential areas that meet everything, customers will be glad to come and buy houses and land. We will also expand the market to foreign customers. If they come here for work, we will offer houses for rent on favourable terms, at very reasonable prices, and also meet all their high-end needs.
Hùng spoke fluently, sketching a whole horizon of dreams about real-estate investment.
The old professor asked:
- So where do you think people will get the money to buy your houses? And once they move to where you are, have you thought about how they will make a living?
Hùng said, flustered: - Professor, I think they already have jobs with stable incomes somewhere else. My role is simply to serve them at this stage.
- Meaning you serve only people who already have enough money to buy a house, and where they get the money, or how they will make a living to pay the instalments on a house, you don't care about. Is that right?
Hùng was silent.
The old professor continued: - You say you have learnt the spirit of serving customers attentively in everything, but the root of a customer's situation, earning money, you don't care about. This is the big hole in your dream.
Hùng said: - Professor, how could I possibly take care of everyone's earning a living? And I haven't seen any book that says a businessperson must help customers earn money to buy their goods. Books only talk about how to sell many products to customers.
The old professor said: - If a book had already said this, what need would there be for the minds of you young people? Remember that the next generation must say what the previous generation has not yet said. Now, think about this problem, and then go and develop your family's real-estate company. As for what you said about the needs of a new residential area, people have already done all of that.
Hùng stood still. The whole class was silent too before the old professor's words.
The professor went on: - You must think of a way to create jobs right in the residential area you plan to build.
- Professor, I see that in Japan people still travel a long way from their residential areas to work by underground train.
- Do you know that the Japanese already regret that kind of planning? Do you know that the quality of life of the Japanese suffers because twice a day they squeeze into the underground and stand dozing on it?
- Then what should I do, Professor? ⛩️

People need to contribute and serve before they enjoy. Anyone who loves people should think of this, and first create conditions for people to contribute. As for luxurious resorts, they are places that use up the merit people have saved and scraped together over a very long time in the past.
Those who would be great businesspeople should think of making a profit in parallel with creating jobs for their customers. Their own employees are of course already working for them and already have jobs; but customers who come to you and find work through you, that is a truly superior enterprise.
An enterprise that sells products to customers and yet gives its customers the chance to find work, that is the thinking of the future. That enterprise leads the world.
